INTRODUCTION TO THE MINI-COMPANY
STARTING THE ACTIVITY
Basic Rules
You’re ready to unleash your creativity and come up with amazing business ideas! Fantastic! But before we dive in, let’s set some basic rules for the mini-enterprise program:
- The mini-enterprise is a school project and is subject to the rules that apply to it. Your management must always be aware of what you’re doing in your business!
- Although the mini-enterprise is not a “real” company, it is subject to the same rules! You must comply with the law at all times and ensure that your products/services are safe for people, animals, and the environment.
- Every business, small or large, needs some capital to start. Mini-enterprises are mainly financed by investors who believe in the abilities of future entrepreneurs. Please read the “Mini-Enterprise Financing” section to understand what is allowed!
- A mini-enterprise is not allowed to charge VAT to a customer (it does not have a VAT identification number). Therefore, any invoice issued must not mention VAT.
- The turnover of a mini-enterprise must never exceed 35,000 euros. Why? Once you exceed this threshold, your company becomes subject to tax. If you find yourself in this situation, contact Jonk Entrepreneuren Luxembourg as soon as possible.
- If the mini-enterprise has made a profit at the end of the year, it must pay an income tax of 5% to Jonk Entrepreneuren Luxembourg.
- Mini-enterprises that sell food products must participate in a food safety training organized by Jonk Entrepreneuren Luxembourg at the beginning of the school year. The guide in the “Documents to Download” section provides initial hygiene and food safety tips.
- A mini-enterprise is never allowed to use the “organic” or “biological” label. Only businesses that undergo strict controls and certification can use this logo. Therefore, the term “organic” cannot even appear in your name.
Thank you for respecting these rules. 😉
